Parks and zoo's


Poznan is quite green city - there are many trees and bushes even in the city centre of the city.
You can also visit one of many parks situated in the city or numerous woods in surroundings.

One of Poznan parks was founded in 1907 and is named Solacki Park. It is a a landscaped park with ponds. Within the grounds lies a quiet hotel Meridian.

The best place for a rest would be upon one of four lakes located in the city, the biggest of which is Kierskie Lake - famous for its yachting centre. Others, situated near the city centre and surrounded by parks and forests, include Malta Lake - which has a boat-race course and hosts sporting competitions, outdoor concerts, and is a place for walks and weekend recreation for Poznanians. Terrain situated directly at Malta Lake really fits for active recreation.

Another famous place is Citadel - the war cemetery surrounded by large and really beautiful park, where many outdoor cultular events take place.

There are two zoo's in Poznan as well: the new and the old one.
The old zoo is situated in the city centre and is quite small. It was estabilished in 1874 and is the oldest zoo in Poland.

The new one is situated near Malta Lake and is much more spatial then the old one. It is also a great place for a walk. Please consult Poznan Zoo homepage.




Poznan Palm House is one of the largest in Europe. It was founded at the beginning of the 20th century and is another alternative for a good recreation.
There are approximately 17,000 plants from sub-tropical and equatorial countries

Founded in 1925 and having 17 hectares area the Botanical Gardens are another place for a rest. You can admire a wide range of plants from temperate climates.
