Poznan greenhouse is the biggest one in Poland and one of the biggest in the whole of Europe. The first greenhouse was built here in 1910 and was rebuilt many times. Today's greenhouse is a completely new object (reconstruction finished at the beginning of 1990s) and consists of 10 pavilons with approximately 17,000 plants. There are aquaria for exotic fish. In addiction there is an aquaruim for water plants too. Total area amounts to 4600 square meters. Poznan greenhouse is located in Wilson Park. The address is: J. Matejki str. 18, 60-767 Poznan. Open 9:00-15:00 (winter) or -17:00 (summer). The ticket office is closed one hour earlier. See a gallery of photographs. The local name of this place is "palmiarnia" which can be translated into a "palm house".  |
