Invited lecture

We are pleased to announce that the ivited lecture will be presented by Christian Maar, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Allegro Group, the leading provider of online auction services across Eastern and Central Europe. The lecture is organized in cooperation with the Workshop on Managing Evolution of Data Warehouses MEDWa. Mr.Maar will begin his presentation with the introduction to real-world challenges for data warehouse technology in the context of extreme transaction processing of Allegro. In the second part of the lecture, Mr.Maar will outline real problems in trust and reputation management that the online auction service is coping with.


Christian Maar studied business management in Nuremberg. He worked on a number of complex business-oriented software development projects for Siemens AG's power supply division. Subsequently, Mr.Maar headed up the development unit at FMKdata, a mid-sized software consulting company based in the Nuremberg area. Mr.Maar then managed several large-scale projects related to business intelligence and warehousing as principal consultant for Oracle Deutschland. He later joined Ariba Deutschland, where he was responsible for client relationship management for Central Europe, liaising with major international clients. He has also worked for IBM Deutschland as a principal in their German "buy and supply" division. From 2004 to 2007 Mr.Maar served as the Head of eCommerce at Primondo (Karstadt-Quelle). Since 2007 he is the CIO of Allegro Group, the leading provider of online auctions in Eastern and Central Europe.
