Information Retrieval: Grading

  • Students can work in pairs.
  • There are 6 assignments to complete.
  • For each assignment a student receives a mark 2.0-5.0.
  • The deadline for finishing the exercise is one week.
  • Mark for an assignment cannot be lower than 2.0.
  • Some exercises consist of two or three main tasks. For instance, in Lab1, there are three tasks: for a mark of 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0. You do not have to complete all tasks in such a case, but only a chosen number of first ones. For example, you can finish only the first task for the mark of 3.0, the first two tasks for the mark of 4.0, or all tasks for the mark of 5.0.
  • Assignments must be completed before the examination session starts.
  • Student(s) may resign from up to one exercise without consequences. In case the student is willing to skip the exercise, (s)he has to notify me of this decision. The rest of the exercises must be completed. However, if a group completes 6 exercises, the lowest mark can be excluded when computing the average mark.
  • Selected assignments must be completed, i.e., one cannot decided not to finish them and claim a mark of 2.
  • A final grade is an average (a weighted average) of the received marks rounded to the nearest grade (3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0).
  • If the average of the received marks < 3.0, then the student is not given a passing grade.
  • Important note: Your exercises will be occasionally checked for plagiarism 🙂
