CALL FOR PAPERS
ADMKD'2007
3rd ADBIS Workshop on Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
http://www.cs.put.poznan.pl/admkd07
2 October 2007, Varna, Bulgaria
to be held in conjunction with
11th East-European Conference on Advances in Databases
and Information Systems ADBIS'2007
http://ecet.ecs.ru.acad.bg/adbis/?
=================================================================
OBJECTIVES
Data mining, also referred to as knowledge discovery in databases, is a process
of finding new, interesting, previously unknown, potentially useful,
actionable, and ultimately understandable patterns from very large volumes of
data. Data mining brings together disciplines such as database systems,
statistics, artificial intelligence, machine learning, parallel and distributed
processing, and visualization. Popularity of data mining results from straight
applicability of discovered patterns in decision support in many areas, e.g. in
medicine, retail, telecommunication, banking, insurance, and many others. Data
mining products are now commercially available, numerous industrial
applications are being developed, as well as interesting academic prototypes
are being presented.
Following the success of the previous two editions, ADMKD'2007 is the third
workshop on data mining and knowledge discovery to be held in conjunction with
the East-European Conference on Advances in Databases and Information Systems
(ADBIS). The Workshops started as a forum to encourage researchers and
practitioners to discuss and investigate data mining research and
implementation issues. The primary purpose of the Workshop is to bring together
scientists to share experience in developing and deploying data mining
solutions. We encourage papers that report progress in ongoing research.
Position papers and vision papers are also welcomed.
TOPICS OF INTEREST
We invite researchers, practitioners, and PhD students who are developing
algorithms, systems, and applications, to share their results, ideas, and
experiences. Submissions are sought that cover foundations of data mining,
extend data mining to new areas, or present applicative technologies. The
topics of the Workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Foundations of data mining
* Data mining system architectures
* Integration of data mining, database systems, and data warehouses
* Mining text, multimedia, semi-structured, and temporal data
* Mining data streams
* Mining high-dimensional data
* Parallel and distributed data mining
* Data and knowledge model representations
* Languages and interfaces for data mining
* Data mining algorithms in traditional and novel areas
* Security and privacy protection in data mining
* Pre-processing of data, reduction, transformation, cleansing, and feature extraction
* Post-processing of data mining results
* Visualization of data mining results
* Performance benchmarks
* Experience in building and deploying data mining applications
* Data mining in medicine, e-commerce, Web, finance, marketing, telecommunications, etc.
LOCATION
The Workshop will be held in Varna, Bulgaria.
IMPORTANT DATES
* Paper submission deadline: 17.06.2007
* Notification of acceptance: 02.07.2007
* Camera-ready copy due date: 16.07.2007
* Workshop date: 02.10.2007
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The workshop calls for research and industrial papers reporting original
results. All paper submissions will be handled electronically. Papers should be
submitted via e-mail to admkd07@cs.put.poznan.pl. Each paper will be carefully
reviewed by program committee members. Papers should be submitted in Microsoft
Word *.doc, postscript, or PDF files formatted according to the LNCS format
(http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html). Accepted papers will be
published in local proceedings. Papers should not exceed 10 pages in final
camera-ready format. For further information regarding paper submission please
send inquiries to admkd07@cs.put.poznan.pl. The extended versions of selected
papers will be invited for journal publication in Control and Cybernetics
(http://control.ibspan.waw.pl) (ISI Master Journal list).
